unmix doesn't ask who you are. Here's what actually happens with the information that passes through it.
no accounts, no user database
unmix has no accounts and no database of who's used it. When you paste a set link, we fetch it from the platform, parse it, and show you the tracklist. Results are cached and shared — if someone already looked up the same set, you get the same cached result — but that cache isn't tied to you.
error monitoring
If something breaks, we use Sentry to see what went wrong. It's configured not to collect IP addresses. On an error, Sentry may also record a short replay of what was on screen at the time — never for a normal visit, only when something fails — and every bit of text in that replay is masked.
what's stored in your browser
unmix keeps a few small preferences in your browser's local storage: which streaming service you prefer for track links, and which service you last used to build a playlist. Connecting Apple Music also remembers, locally, which playlist folder unmix created in your library. During a streaming-service connection, a short-lived marker sits in session storage just to confirm the flow came back to the same tab — it's gone as soon as you close it. None of this is sent to us; it only makes your next visit remember your choices.
tidal
If you connect Tidal to build a playlist, we set a cookie in your browser so you don't have to log in again next time. It lasts up to a year, and it isn't stored anywhere on our servers — only in your browser. To remove it, clear your browser's cookies for unmix.live, or revoke unmix's access from your Tidal account settings.
soundcloud
If you connect SoundCloud to build a playlist, it's created in your own SoundCloud account as a private playlist, with the set's name, a short description and the set's cover art. We set a cookie in your browser so you don't have to log in again next time; it lasts up to a year after the last playlist you build. A second one holds a short-lived SoundCloud key and expires within the hour, and while you're signing in a third keeps your place in that round trip and expires after ten minutes. None of them is stored anywhere on our servers — only in your browser. To remove them, clear your browser's cookies for unmix.live. Revoking unmix's access in your SoundCloud settings stops the year-long one from working.
apple music
Apple Music playlists go through Apple's own MusicKit sign-in. The authorization token it gives us stays in your browser — unmix's servers never see it.
spotify
Spotify playlists are created on an account unmix itself owns, not yours — there's no Spotify login involved. Each playlist is public and carries the set's name and cover art.
youtube
YouTube playlists use YouTube's own anonymous playlist link. Nothing is created or stored on unmix's side.
outbound links
Some links to music stores may carry an affiliate tag. If you buy something after clicking one, unmix may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.
analytics
unmix uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless — visitors are counted with a hash that's discarded after 24 hours, not stored or matched to who you are. It counts page views and a handful of anonymous actions: a link pasted, a track opened, a playlist created, and which unsupported sites people paste, as a domain name only. It doesn't identify visitors or track them across other sites.
feedback form
The feedback/bugs link opens a short form. What you write, and the page you were on, gets forwarded privately to the developer. If you leave an email so we can follow up, it's kept out of that forwarded copy.
who processes this
A few outside services help run unmix: Vercel hosts it, Sentry catches errors, Upstash stores the cache linking a set to the playlist built for it (no personal data), and Tally runs the feedback form. Looking up a track also means a request to music-service APIs (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, and others) — we send them the track's name, nothing about you.
